Image Treadmills: A Budget Buy for Walkers

Image treadmills are manufactured by Icon Health and Fitness, the largest retail fitness company in the world. Icon also owns such well known brands as Nordic Track and Proform, and they definitely have the ability to produce good looking treadmills at budget prices.

Like other Icon products, however, quality and durability have been issues with the Image treadmills. The same problems that plague other Icon brands, such as inferior parts, expensive replacement items and skimpy warranties, unfortunately apply to Image treadmills as well. Most models of Image treadmills have innovative and attractive designs and are typically packed with lots of extra features, but unfortunately, its more eye candy than anything else. In recent years the warranty on the motors has improved due to the decision by Icon to import inexpensive and well made motors from overseas, but the warranties on the treadmills themselves havent gotten any better.

Image treadmills generally come with some of the shorter warranty periods (typically 90 days). If you buy one of these treadmills, pay close attention to what the warranties are and make sure you understand what is and what isnt covered. Some of those who have bought Image Treadmills have commented that these models are some of the best budget treadmills. As with all fitness equipment, you get what you pay for. If youre on a tight budget and plan on using your treadmill primarily for walking, Image treadmills might be worth a try. However, if you have plans to do any heavy walking or jogging, these are not the treadmills to buy! Smooth treadmills or even a high-end Proform treadmill will be a better investment.
